New York City - a town in upstate New York United States of America, the largest in the U.S. and one of the largest cities in the world (17th). The population of 8,459,026 people (2010), with the suburbs - 18,8 million is located on the Atlantic coast in the southeastern part of New York. New York was founded in early XVII century Dutch colonists. Until 1664 the town was called New Amsterdam.

The city administration consists of 5 areas: Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island. The main attractions are located in Manhattan. Among them: the historic skyscrapers (the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building) Rockefeller Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Opera, the Museum of Modern Art Solomon R.
